In Star Wars: Rogue One, Jyn Erso and her small team face the formidable challenge of stealing the plans to the Death Star. With remarkable courage and resolve - driven by passion, they defy overwhelming odds, to successfully accomplish their mission.
Over my last 3 years at Akunah I have seen many parallels with this tale, beginning with a handful of people aiming to revolutionise healthcare. It was incredible to witness the evolution of the company, and the talented team that developed – driven by passion to make a difference.
Like Rogue One, to succeed on this path we faced difficult challenges, taking it step by step to reach where we are today. It is a great honour to announce the successes of this year, including FDA & TGA approval for Akunah Reflect, MDSAP certification, the commercial launch of the Akunah Platform, and numerous publications advancing healthcare. Along the way we made some great friends in partners, who share our vision to personalise healthcare. I look forward to our journey together, as we sustain our momentum and reinforce Akunah's standing as a global leader.
I am honoured to be the COO at Akunah, a journey that has been fun, rewarding, and incredibly humbling. Every day I am privileged to be surrounded by this team of intelligence and drive that defines Akunah. I want to express my gratitude to each member of the team, our early-adopters, and our partners for contributing to our story. Together we will turbo charge this endeavour into 2024, as we scale our team and distribution efforts to bring to the benefits of Akunah to the broader audience.

Sironix Partnership and Data Revolution Launch in India
We are thrilled to announce a landmark achievement: our partnership with Sironix, a leading medical device company in India with a global reach, was officially launched at SESICON in Hyderabad this November. This collaboration signifies our foray into medical software, leveraging the capabilities of our Akunah Platform. Aimed at revolutionising data analytics for orthopaedic surgeons, our platform streamlines patient and clinical data collection, paving the way for predictive decision-making and enhancing patient care journeys. Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate the rollout of Akunah Reflect, our innovative pre-operative planning app for shoulder surgeries, in the upcoming year.
Expanding Global Reach
Since its debut, the Akunah Platform has gained substantial global interest. We've expanded our patient questionnaires to support 9 languages, with plans to add 5 more in the coming year. Our goal is to provide universal access to advanced data collection tools, pushing the envelope in evidence-based healthcare.
Akunah Reflect
QTB Collaboration – Akunah Reflect COMPLEX
Our collaboration with the Queensland Tissue Bank marks a significant step in enhancing surgical outcomes. Through this alliance, Akunah Reflect will synergise with QTB to produce customised bone grafts for shoulder surgeries. This fusion of technology and healthcare expertise is set to revolutionize the field of orthopaedics in Australia and is available now. Akunah Reflect Progress
Following our FDA and TGA approvals, we've made significant strides in finalising the Akunah Reflect App. This intuitive software will facilitate a range of shoulder surgeries, from simple to complex. It features our Reflect Complex service, employing AI for automatic segmentation of CT scans, aiding surgeons in precise pre-operative planning. Stay tuned for more updates.

We're excited about our partnership with Understand.com to enrich Akunah Med, our medical education platform. This collaboration brings over 50 orthopaedic education videos to the Akunah Global Public channel, offering insights into surgeries, rehabilitation, and more. These resources will greatly enhance patient engagement and understanding. Healthcare professionals can also access the Akunah Global HCP channel for exclusive medical content.

Research - Advancing Healthcare Research and AI
At Akunah, our AI and R&D teams are dedicated to pioneering research in healthcare. We proudly announce the publication of “Towards Risk-Free Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence: Significance and Requirements”. This paper, led by on of our AI engineer’s Dr Laith Alzubaidi, with significant contributions from our R&D Head Dr Asma Salhi and CEO Prof Ashish Gupta, underscores the critical role of trustworthiness in AI systems across sectors such as education, healthcare, and finance. It delves into the essentials of trustworthy AI, exploring challenges and offering recommendations for AI deployments.
