Innovation Across Continents — Education, Evidence, and Engineering Better Outcomes
We’ve had a busy and inspiring month — from packed auditoriums in Ecuador to high-impact publications and important new partnerships at home. Below is a roundup of the key highlights, product updates, research wins, and upcoming events for our clinical and research community.
Ecuador & SECUHC — A Week to Remember
A packed program, passionate clinicians, practical teaching
What an incredible experience in Ecuador. Thank you to the Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Hombro y Codo (SECUHC) for the invitation and leadership. Over two full days, Dr. Ashish Gupta presented to jam-packed rooms, exchanged ideas with surgeons pushing the boundaries of shoulder care, and ran hospital teaching rounds with Orthopaedic Residents — which were a personal highlight. It was fantastic to meet colleagues from across the region, including many rising stars shaping the future of shoulder surgery.
Education → Collaboration
The trip catalysed a new strategic partnership between SECUHC and Akunah, aimed at advancing knowledge exchange and clinical collaboration across Latin America. This partnership will integrate Akunah’s medical education frameworks with its AI-driven research tools to support scalable skills transfer, foster innovation, and strengthen collaborative research. Further details on this initiative will be shared in the coming months.
Research Spotlight — Single-Stage vs Two-Stage Reconstruction
Objective evidence shaping surgical strategy
We’re proud to highlight a recent paper from the Akunah research network examining single-stage vs two-stage reconstruction approaches, which provides valuable insights into clinical decision-making and long-term outcomes. This publication builds on Akunah’s mission to support evidence-based surgery and demonstrates the power of structured data to inform nuanced surgical strategies.
